Travel more for less: 5 tips

Posted on June 18, 2020 — 1:00 pm

We at yuilop are a well traveled international group, and we’re all about no-cost lifehacks. With summer upon us, we teamed up with our like minded friends at Only-apartments to put together some easy tips that could end up saving you a lot of money.

  • Download yuilop. Avoid roaming bill shock when you get home by turning of data and using yuilop over WiFi for all your calls and SMS abroad. You can even leave your mobile at home and set up yuilop on your iPod or tablet. Your yuilop.me number lives in the cloud, so it will follow you. Cool!

  • Book an apartment with Only-apartments. They have over 20,000 apartments worldwide, some as low at 10€ per person per night!

  • Plan a picnic. Of course you’ll want to eat at the local restaurants too, but there is something so special about picking up some produce at the local market and having a picnic in the park, on the beach, or even on a bridge - we’re thinking Pont des Arts in Paris. Oh la la! And on a rainy day, we suggest you cook a feast back at your in your fully equipped kitchen - thanks to Only-apartments.

  • Ask for tap water. Many travellers feel safer drinking bottled water, but in most cities these days tap water is just fine. Here in Barcelona, for example, ask for agua del grifo. You’ll get a glass of water, and you won’t pay a centimo.

  • Go to a museum. People often forget that museums have free days or free hours. Did you know that the Museums in Washington D.C. are always free? So look for these special deals before you go, and take a photo - more museums are finally allowing you to take pictures inside - of your visit and send it to your friends, via yuilop of course!

Here’s to your safe and ‘save’ travels!

yuilop quarterly newsletter: your inside peek at our growth this spring

Posted on May 29, 2020 — 12:59 pm

Introducing the first yuilop update! We hope you enjoy it, share it and send us your suggestions.

For those new to yuilop, we’re a startup out of Barcelona, with a mission to make talking free again. We built a communications app that upped the bar for low-cost to no-cost. Skype, Viber and Whatsapp, offer free calls or messages only when placed over the internet and between their app’s users. With yuilop, you can make calls and send SMS to anyone in the world over WiFi or 3G/4G/LTE, even to friends and family who don’t have the app. It’s a whole new generation of OTT.

Highlights, more phones,

more fun

We started off the year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We had a fun time showing off the yuilop app and launched two yuilop services for business:

Sponsored chat advertising for Brands and yuilop in a box for MNOs. In April, we launched yuilop for the first time on BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

Key stats, here we grow

- 5 million active users

- 40+ countries where yuilop is available (biggest markets Germany, Mexico and Spain)

- 10-fold growth in Italy in just two months!

- No. 2 in travel, rank of Iberia Express app after yuilop Sponsored Chat campaign

What’s next, by Jochen

Doppelhammer

We’re super proud of each and every yuilop launch, but that’s just the beginning. For starters, very soon you’ll see more features for BlackBerry and WP, a new design for Android, the ability to get more than one yuilop.me number and more ways to top up credit. You can also expect the official launch of yuilop in the US and something new and disruptive in

Germany. Of course our focus is still on making

talking free, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Makes talking free again.

In these times of crisis yuilop is much more than an application, is an ally of your wallet. With yuilop you can be connected to all your contacts everywhere, whether or not they use the app, it also allows you to save some money on calls and SMS.

  1. Download yuilop onto your smartphone and use it for calling and texting. Unlike most other apps, yuilop does not require the receiver of the call to also have yuilop. You can call anyone on any phone.
  2. Sign up for the right mobile data plan. Make sure the company allows VoIP traffic in the chosen tariff, so you can make calls over the Internet (yuilop needs Internet). For example, in Spain we recommend Amena which offers 1GB per month for only 7 euros + VAT. In Italy we recommend Tre offers 1 GB per month for 4 euros. In Germany we recommend blau which offers you 1 GB per month for 9,90 euros.

Turn your iPod into a smartphone with yuilop

Posted on April 21, 2021 — 10:57 am

How to impress your friends by turning your iPod into a smartphone!

Did you know that with the help of yuilop your iPod will be able to make calls and send texts, just like a smartphone?

 ipoden

You’ll need a mobile phone to get set up (doesn’t matter how old it is, it only needs to be able to receive SMS!). After that, all you need is your iPod. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

How to do it:

  1. Go to the AppStore and download yuilop from your iPod
  2. Sign up with the mobile number (get the permission from the owner if it’s not you)
  3. Enter the confirmation code sent to the mobile phone

As simple as this! Make some calls and tell your friends to call you back on your iPod!

What if my friends don’t have the yuilop app?

Don’t worry, you don’t need to have friends in yuilop to use it. We give you free initial credit, which allows you to call or text anyone on any phone. You can even call your grandma on her fixed line!

But, of course it’s a great idea to invite friends to yuilop. When they join you earn 10 free credits for calls and text. And you’ll have one more way to connect because they will appear on the yuilop chat.

I ran out of credit, now what?

You don’t need credit to call and text with friends and family who already have yuilop. It’s totally free. To earn more credit to contact people who are not on yuilop yet:

  • Invite contacts. You earn 10 credits for every person who joins yuilop through your invitation.

  • Chat with yuilop friends

  • Download promos.

  • Watch promotional Videos

  • Earn Energy on yuilop website

  • Earn Energy for incoming calls and SMS on your yuilop.me number! (Currently only available in Spain and Germany)

Now you have all the tools you need to turn your iPod into a smartphone thanks to yuilop. Enjoy!
