Undercuts Skype-like rivals who charge for out-of-app communication to mobile and landline numbers

yuilop, the cloud-based global communications app popular in Europe, today launched free – no credit or cash needed – unlimited, national calls and SMS in the U.S., giving its new base of U.S. users a no-cost alternative to expensive Mobile Network Operators (MNO) and to VoIP services that start charging for out-of-app activities. Accessed by over 5 million users, and currently available in over 200+ countries, yuilop makes calling and texting free to any contact, even to friends and family who don’t have the app, anywhere in the world.

Introducing the first yuilop update! We hope you enjoy it, share it and send us your suggestions.

For those new to yuilop, we’re a startup out of Barcelona, with a mission to make talking free again. We built a communications app that upped the bar for low-cost to no-cost. Skype, Viber and Whatsapp, offer free calls or messages only when placed over the internet and between their app’s users. With yuilop, you can make calls and send SMS to anyone in the world over WiFi or 3G/4G/LTE, even to friends and family who don’t have the app. It’s a whole new generation of OTT.

We started off the year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We had a fun time showing off the yuilop app and launched two yuilop services for business:

Sponsored chat advertising for Brands and yuilop in a box for MNOs. In April, we launched yuilop for the first time on BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

Many of us here at yuilop cycle to work. With good riding conditions year-round in Barcelona, there’s really no excuse not to. We bow down to all you hardcore riders in colder climates! In an effort to make cycling more enjoyable, no matter where you are, we asked around the office to see what apps the staff like and recommend most.
